इतिहासकार पुरुषोत्तम नागेश ओक कहते हैं यूरोप की मूल अनादि संस्कृति वैदिक थी और ग्रीस तथा रोम उस परम्परा के गढ़ थे. यहाँ भी चतुर्वर्ण व्यवस्था थी. रोमन साम्राज्य वस्तुतः रामन सम्राज्य था और रोम वास्तव में राम का ही इतालवी उच्चार है जिसकी स्थापना ईसापूर्व ७५३ ईस्वीपूर्व में Etruscan लोगों ने की थी. वे लिखते हैं कि रोम नगर के राम नगर होने के एक प्रमाण यह भी है कि रोम नगर के सामने दूसरी ओर रावण (Revenna) नगर बसा है.
इतिहासकार एडवर्ड पोकोक ने भी अपने ग्रन्थ के पृष्ठ १७२ पर लिखा है, “Behold the memory of …Ravan still preserved in the city of Ravenna, and see on the western coast, its great rival Rama or Roma.”
इटालियन इतिहासकारों का मानना है कि ईसापूर्व सातवीं शताब्दी से लगभग ईसापूर्व पहली शताब्दी तक उस देश में Etruscan सभ्यता थी. पर इतिहासकार पी एन ओक Etruscan सभ्यता को प्राचीन सभ्यता बताते हैं. उन्होंने लिखा है कि प्राचीन इटली को एत्रुरिया (Etruria) उर्फ़ अत्रिरिय यानि अत्रि ऋषि का प्रदेश कहते थे. उस प्राचीन इटली की जीवन-प्रणाली का एत्रुस्कन (Etruscan) नाम भी अत्रि ऋषि से पड़ा. इटली के पूर्व तट पर अत्रि ऋषि के नाम पर ही अत्रियाटिक (Atriatic/Adriatic) सागर है.
Introduction to Rome and the Campagna के लेखक R Burn, पृष्ठ ४१ पर लिखते हैं. “रेजिया नाम राजगुरु का संक्षिप्त रूप है. रोम के राजगुरु को अत्रियम रेजिया इसलिए कहा जाता था कि राजगुरु को अत्रि उपाधि प्राप्त थी और अत्रियम वेष्टे का अर्थ विष्णुभक्त अत्रि है. राजगुरु के भवन के प्राचीन रोम नगर में ऐसे वैदिक नाम थे. देव सेनापति मंगल के भाले वहां रखे जाते थे.”
इटली में हुए आधुनिक एतिहासिक शोध से प्रमाण
इटली में हुए आधुनिक एतिहासिक शोधों से भी प्रचलित मान्यताओं का खंडन होता है. आधुनिक शोधों से पता चलता है कि टाईबर नदी के दक्षिण में रोम नगर और रोमन साम्राज्य निर्माण से पूर्व Etruscan लोग टाईबर नदी के उत्तरी हिस्से में रहनेवाले सुविकसित, सुखी और सम्पन्न लोग थे. नदी के इस पार के लोग उनकी विकास और सम्पन्नता के कायल थे. आधुनिक शोध Etruscan सभ्यता को नौवीं दशवीं सदी तक पीछे ले जाने में सफल हुए हैं (स्रोत-विकिपीडिया) जिसे और भी अधिक पीछे ले जाने की जरूरत है क्योंकि Etruscan सभ्यता के लोग भारत से निकले (आउट ऑफ़ अफ्रीका सिद्धांत के अनुसार) उसी शाखा के हिस्से हैं जो ग्रीस और इटली होते हुए गॉल प्रदेश (फ़्रांस, बेल्जियम, पुर्तगाल आदि) में जाकर बसे ड्रुइडस अथवा सेल्टिक लोग कहलाये. जब यूरोपियन इतिहासकार सेल्टिक सभ्यता को कम से कम १२०० ईस्वी पूर्व का मानते हैं तो Etruscan लोग इटली में उससे बहुत पहले ही आकर बसे होंगे.
The Celtic Druids के लेखक Godfrey Higgins लिखते हैं, “ग्रीक, रोमन और सेल्टिक या केल्टिक भाषाएँ परस्पर मिलती जुलती हैं एसा M Hudelleston ने बता दिया है. वह समानता स्वाभाविक थी क्योंकि तीनों को सफल बनानेवाली धाराएं किसी श्रेष्ठ पूर्ववर्ती देश से पश्चिम दिशा में आई थी.
हिन्दू प्रणाली की प्राचीनता की कोई बराबरी नहीं कर सकता. वहीँ (आर्यावर्त में) हमें न केवल ब्राह्मण धर्म अपितु समस्त हिन्दू प्रणाली का आरम्भ प्रतीत होगा. वहां से वह धर्म पश्चिम में इथिओपिया से इजिप्त और फिनिशिया तक बढ़ा; पूर्व में स्याम से होते हुए चीन और जापान तक फैला; दक्षिण में सीलोन और जावा सुमात्रा तक प्रसारित हुआ और उत्तर में ईरान से खाल्डइय, कोलचिस और हायपरबोरिया तक फैला. वहीं से वैदिक धर्म ग्रीस और रोम में भी उतर आया. Sanskrit and its kindred Literatures-Studies in Comparative Mythology की लेखिका Laura Elizabeth अपने ग्रन्थ के पृष्ठ १-२ पर लिखती हैं, “फिनिशियन, कर्थेजियन, रोमन, ग्रीक आदि लोगों के इतिहास भिन्न-भिन्न भले ही लगें किन्तु वे सारे किसी एक राष्ट्र से सम्बन्धित हैं. संस्कृत भाषा ही सबको एक सूत्र में पिरोती है. इस जानकारी से वह विचार परिवर्तन होता है. उन सारे साहित्यों का मूल जानने केलिए संस्कृत भाषा की जानकारी होना, उस भाषा के महान योगदान का ज्ञान और आधुनिक शास्त्रों से उस भाषा का सम्बन्ध ज्ञात कर लेना आवश्यक है. सोलोमन के समय (ईसापूर्व १०१५) में और अलेक्जेंडर के समय (ईसापूर्व ३२४) में भी संस्कृत बोली जाती थी.”
इटली में भारतीय देवी देवताओं की पूजा के प्रमाण
इतिहासकार पी एन ओक लिखते हैं, “एक ईसा पूर्व तक इटली के शासक Etruscan थे जो वैदिक संस्कृति के लोग थे. इन्ही Etruscan का वेटिकन में शिव और विष्णु का विशाल मन्दिर था जहाँ पापहर्ता पीठाधीश होते थे. वेटिकन पर जब इसाइयों ने हमला कर नष्ट कर दिया तो वहां के कुछ अवशेष जैसे कई शिवलिंग, पेंटिंग आदि म्यूजियम में सुरक्षित हैं. उन पेंटिंग में रामायण कि कथाओं के कई प्रसंगों के चित्र भी हैं” (चित्र आगे दिए गये हैं)
Fanny Parks ने अपने ग्रन्थ के पृष्ठ ४३२ पर लिखा है, “रोमन लोग निजी राज्य के संस्थापक रोम्युलस को परमात्मा मानकर उसकी पूजा करते थे. उसे वे Quirinus भी कहते थे और उन दोनों की वे प्रार्थना करते थे.”
यहाँ रोम्युलस राम शब्द है और Quirinus कृष्ण शब्द ही है. सनातन परम्परा में ही राम और कृष्ण को एक मानकर उनकी पूजा करते हैं-पी एन ओक
Franz Cumont ने अपने ग्रन्थ के पृष्ठ ४३-४४ पर लिखा है, “रोमन सैनिकों में माँ अम्बा की भक्ति करने की प्रथा थी. उस देवता की पूजा विधि रक्तरंजित होती थी. काले वस्त्र पहने उसके भक्तगण ढोल तथा तुतारियों की नाद की मस्ती में गोल गोल नर्तन करते. उनके केश खुले बिखरे होते थे. नाचते नाचते उनकी सुध बुध खो जाती….अंत में उनके शरीर में दैवी का संचार हो जाता और वे अनजाने पूछे प्रश्नों के उत्तर देते रहते.
पी एन ओक लिखते हैं रोमन लोग देवी को माँ कहते थे और अनादिकाल से मरिअम्मा अर्थात मेरी माता की पूजा करते थे.
ग्रीक लोग स्वर्ग को Koilon कहते हैं और रोमन Coelum. ये दोनों संस्कृत शब्द कैलास के अपभ्रंश हैं. (पृष्ठ ६८, पोकाक के ग्रन्थ इंडिया इन ग्रीस)
Franz Cumont पृष्ठ ११० पर लिखते हैं, “फिनिशिया में जिन (वैदिक) देवताओं की पूजा होती थी उनका सागर पार कर रोम में प्रवेश होना स्वाभाविक ही था. Balmarcodas (बालमुकुन्द) नाम के रासक्रीडा करने वाले भगवान बेरुत नगर के देव थे. पर्जन्य के देव Marna (वरुण) गाजा में पूजे जाते थे. Maiuma (माई उमा) के नाम से सागर तटवर्ती लोग Ostia नगर में और पूर्ववर्ती देशों में छुट्टी मनाया करते थे.”
वे आगे पृष्ठ १३७ पर लिखते हैं, “रोमन सम्राटों की धारणाएँ तथा उनके राजकुलों में होने वाली विधि, भारतीय राजकुलों के जैसी ही थी. अतः दोनों की परम्परा का स्रोत एक ही था.”
संत अगस्टाईन नामक पादरी की पुस्तक The City of God’s से रोम नगर में पूजे जाने वाले देवी देवताओं की जानकारी मिलती है. Studio Pontica पुस्तक के पृष्ठ १३८ पर लिखा है कि Trapezus के समीप एक भूगर्भस्थ मित्र (सूर्य) मन्दिर को गिरिजाघर बना दिया गया.
रोम में शिव और गणेश की पूजा
क्युमौंट के ग्रन्थ में पृष्ठ ८५-८६ पर उल्लेख है कि रोम नगर के जिस विभाग में Concord (शंकर) का मन्दिर था उसे Area Concordae (C का उच्चारण श करने पर “शंकरदेव परिसर”) कहा जाता था. कहते हैं Romulus ने वहां चार घोड़ों के रथ में आरूढ़ कुछ पीतल कि मूर्तियाँ प्रतिष्ठित कि थी और वहां एक कमल का पौधा लगाया था. रोम में तो कई मन्दिर थे किन्तु उनमे Jauns (यानि गणेश, ग्रीस में Ganus) का मन्दिर बड़ा ही प्रख्यात था.
ग्रीस और रोम में गणेश पूजन होता था. इसका इतिहास में उल्लेख है. ईसापूर्व काल में वही ग्रीस और रोम वाली सभ्यता पूरे यूरोप में था. “Ganesh..is depicted on a carving at Rheims in France with a rat above his head-Dorothea Chaplin, Matter, Myth and Spirit or Keltic and Hindu Links, Page-36
भगवान विष्णु रोम के प्रमुख देवता थे
Rome and the Compagna नाम का Robert Burn के ग्रन्थ के पृष्ठ ६०३ पर उल्लेख है कि विष्टु (अर्थात विष्णु जैसे कृष्ण का कृष्ट) का मन्दिर एक वर्तुलाकार इमारत होती थी. वह पृथ्वी के आकार कि इस कारण बनाई गयी थी कि उसमें स्थित विष्टु भगवान समस्त संसार के द्योतक थे.
बर्न एक सर्प मन्दिर का भी उल्लेख करता है और लिखता है कि “नगर के आश्चर्यकारी बातों में सर्प मन्दिर का उल्लेख तो मिलता है किन्तु यह कहाँ था इसका पता नहीं चलता है.” मेरा मत है कि सर्प मन्दिर भी इस विष्णु मन्दिर को ही कहा जाता होगा क्योंकि विष्णु भगवान कि कई मूर्तियाँ पूरे यूरेशिया में शेषशय्या पर मिली है-पी एन ओक
बर्न ने अपने ग्रन्थ के पृष्ठ २८८ पर लिखा है कि रोम नगर में एक बड़ा नाला है. उसके समीप डोलिओला नाम का स्थान है. सन ३८७ के गोट लोगों द्वारा किये गये आक्रमण के समय उस डोलिओला स्थान में विष्टु के मन्दिर के पवित्र अवशेष काष्ठ पात्रों में भर भर कर संरक्षणार्थ दबा दिए गए थे. पृष्ठ २९१ पर बर्न ने विष्टु के वर्तुलाकार मन्दिर का चित्र दिया है. उसे Hercules का मन्दिर भी कहा जाता था अर्थ वही विष्णु का मन्दिर.
रोम के प्रमुख देवता विष्टु अर्थात विष्णु ही थे इस बात पर जोर देते हुए बर्न महोदय पृष्ठ ३९७ पर लिखते हैं कि “टाईबर नदी के प्रमुख देव Hercules यानि हरि कुल ईश अर्थात विष्णु ही थे. इसी कारण लैटिन कवियों ने कई बार रोम नगर का ही Hercules कहकर उल्लेख किया है.”
स्ट्रैबो ने भी लिखा है कि “उसके समय में टाईबर नदी दो बातों केलिए प्रसिद्ध थी-एक उसका Herculeum अर्थात हरि ईशालयम (C का श उच्चारण) और दूसरा उस नदी का प्रपात. उस मन्दिर का एक ग्रंथालय भी था. जिस स्थान पर हरि ईशालयम सम्बन्धी अनेक शिलालेख पाए गए हैं वहीँ पर वह मन्दिर रहा होगा.”
इटली में शिव के द्वारा कामदेव के दहन की कथा भी प्रचलित थी जिसमें कामदेव को Osiris, उसकी पत्नी रति को Isis, शिव को Set आदि शब्द प्रयुक्त है. एडवर्ड पोकोक अपने ग्रन्थ के पृष्ठ १६६ पर रोम के बारे में Niebuhr के कथन को उद्धृत किया है, “रोम नगर में मार्च मास के प्रथम दिन Vistu के मन्दिर में एक नई अग्नि प्रज्वलित करने की विधि होती थी.” यहाँ Vistu विष्णु शब्द है.
Preface of Oriental Religious के लेखक Grant Showerman जो Visconsis University के प्रोफेसर थे वे लिखते हैं, “रोम के ईसापूर्व जितने मूर्तिपूजक पैगन पंथ थे उनके सिद्धांत ईसाई पंथ के सिधान्तों से कहीं अधिक शरीर, मन, बुद्धि, चेतना आदि सभी का समाधान करनेवाले होते थे. उनकी परम्परा बहुत प्राचीन थी. विज्ञान और सभ्यता पर वे आधारित थी. उनकी देवताए बड़ी दयालु कही जाती थी. वह धार्मिक प्रणाली तर्क पर आधारित थी. अगले जन्म में अधिक शुद्धभाव और पूण्य प्राप्ति हो यह ध्येय रखा जाता था. ईसाई पंथ ने उस विरोधी परम्परा से ही अपने तथ्य बनाकर उन पंथों का खंडन करना आरम्भ किया.
इटली में देवदासी प्रथा
पोकोक अपने ग्रन्थ के पृष्ठ १८०-१८१ पर लिखते हैं, “इजिप्त की तरह रोम में भी सूर्य और चन्द्रवंशी क्षत्रिय आ बसे थे. अतः दोनों में पुरोहितों के द्वारा बड़े समारंभ पूर्वक विविध धार्मिक विधि विधान किए जाते थे. वहां सूर्य कुमारियों की भी प्रथा होती थी. वे सूर्य को अर्पण की हुई कन्याएं थी. उन्हें बाल्यावस्था में ही उनके कुटुम्ब से अलग कर कान्वेंट आश्रमों में रखा जाया करता था… कितने आश्चर्य की बात है की अमेरिका के प्राचीन निवासी, रोम के ईसापूर्व परम्परा और कैथोलिक ईसाई परम्परा में कितनी गहरी समानता है.”
इटली में वैदिक संस्कृति और परम्परा
भारत के चक्रवर्ती सम्राट विक्रमादित्य के समकालीन यूरोप में रोमन सम्राट जुलियस सीजर थे. उन्होंने अपने संस्मरणों में लिखा है कि, “Gauls (French, Spanish, Portuguese, Belgium) claimed to be descended from Dis Pater अर्थात गाल की जनता की धारना थी कि वे “देवस पितर” यानि देवों के पिता (ब्रह्मा) के वंशज हैं. यह ठेठ वैदिक धारणा है. आधुनिक यूरोपियन तो अज्ञानतावश खुद को बन्दर की औलाद समझते हैं-पी एन ओक
वैदिक विवाहों में कई प्रकार के होम तिन चार दिनों के विवाह समारोह में होते हैं. रोमन समाज में भी वैसे ही होते थे. रोबर्ट अपने ग्रन्थ के पृष्ठ १७० पर लिखते हैं कि, “विवाह की वेदी पर नवविवाहित दम्पत्ति हवन किया करते थे.”
Etruscan पेंटिंग में रामायण की कथा
प्राचीन यूरोप में भी दक्षिण-पूर्व के देशों की तरह रामायण का पाठ होता था. रामलीला भी होता था. जर्मनी और इराक में प्राचीन गुफाओं की खुदाई में भगवान राम, लक्ष्मण, सीता और हनुमान के भित्ति चित्र भी मिले हैं. इसी कारण राम, हनुमान आदि नाम यूरोपीय परम्परा में कायम है. मिस्र का शासक रामसेने; जर्मनी का Haneman, अन्य देशों में Heinemann अर्थात हनुमान ही है-पी एन ओक
इटली के ईसापूर्व के कई घरों में रामायण प्रसंग के चित्र पाए गये हैं. वे Etruscan Paintings कहे जाते हैं. ईसापूर्व सातवीं शताब्दी से ईसापूर्व पहली शताब्दी तक इटली देश के उतरी तिन चौथाई भाग में Etruscan सभ्यता थी ऐसा स्थानीय विद्वानों का अनुमान है.
इटली में पाए गए Etruscan चित्र कई वास्तु संग्रहालयों में प्रदर्शित हैं. उनकी पुस्तकें भी उपलब्ध हैं. पुरातत्वीय पुस्तकों में वे कहाँ कहाँ पाए गए, इसकी जानकारी भी प्राप्त है.
उपर वैदिक पहरावे में रावण. निचे दाहिनी ओर सर पर पल्लू ओढ़े सीता अशोक वाटिका में दुखी बैठी है. विभीषण राम को मिलने जाने की तयारी में सीता को बंधनमुक्त करने की रावण से अंतिम विनती करते हुए.
२५ दिसम्बर का क्रिसमस पर्व वैदिक यूरोप का ही उत्सव है
इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं की ईसाईपंथ के कुछ विधि और त्यौहार मूर्तिपूजकों की प्रणाली का अनुकरण करते हैं. चौथी शताब्दी में क्रिसमस का त्यौहार २५ दिसम्बर को इसलिए माना गया की इस दिन प्राचीन परम्परानुसार सूर्यजन्म का उत्सव होता था.(Preface of Oriental Religious by क्युमोंट)
पहाड़ियों पर आग जलाकर २५ दिसम्बर का त्यौहार ब्रिटने और आयरलैंड में मनाया जाता था. फ़्रांस में ड्रुइडस की परम्परा वैसी ही सर्वव्यापी थी जैसे ब्रिटेन में. हरियाली और विशेषतया Mistletoe (यानि सोमलता) उस त्यौहार में घर-घर में लगायी जाती. लन्दन नगर में भी लगायी जाति थी. इससे यह ड्रुईडो का त्यौहार होने का पता चलता है. ईसाई परम्परा से उसका (क्रिसमस का) कोई सम्बन्ध नहीं है. इशानी (Esseni) पंथ के साधू ईसाई बनाए जाने के बाद पतित और पापी रोमन और ग्रीक साधू कहलाने लगे. उनके ईसाई बनने से पूर्व के मठों में एक विशेष दिन सूर्यपूजा होता था. सूर्य को ईश्वर कहते थे. वह दिन था २५ दिसम्बर, मानो सूर्य का वह जन्मदिन था. ड्रुइड लोग भी इसे मनाते थे. भारत से लेकर पश्चिम के सारे देशों तक सूर्य के उस उत्तर संक्रमन का दिन जो मनाया जाता था उसी को उठाकर ईसाईयों ने अपना क्रिसमस त्यौहार घोषित कर दिया. मरियम की गोद में जीसस की मूर्ति वास्तव में क्या है?
ईसा पूर्व १०० में गॉल प्रदेश (फ्रास, बेल्जियम, पुर्तगाल आदि) के chartra जिले में कन्याकुमारी का एक उत्सव मनाया जाता था. उस उत्सव का नाम वर्जिनि पारितुरी था. उसी प्रकार ब्रिटेन के ऑक्सफ़ोर्ड नगर में बालक को दूध पिलाने वाली माँ की प्रतिमा एक प्राचीन सूर्य मन्दिर में थी. उदीयमान बाल सूर्य को वर्षरूपी माता दूध पिला पाल-पोसकर बड़ा करेगी एसा उसका अभिप्राय था. उस सूर्य को मित्र कहा करते थे. प्रोटेस्टेंट लोग प्राचीन Etruscan प्रथा के अनुसार कन्या और बालक के पूजन से क्रिसमस मनाते हैं. उसे वे देवी नुर्तिया कहते हैं. ईरानी लोगों में भी यह एक बड़ा त्यौहार था. वे उसे मित्र (सूर्य) देव का जन्मदिन मानते थे. रोम नगर में अनादी काल से Etruscan लोग बालकृष्ण को गोद में लिए हुए यशोदा की मूर्तियाँ और गोकुल का दृश्य बनाकर, भगवान कृष्ण के जन्म समय पर ठीक रात्रि १२ बजे घंटियाँ बजाकर कृष्णमास त्यौहार मनाते थे. वे ही लोग जब छल बल और कपट से ईसाई बनाए गये तो उसी प्राचीन यशोदा-कृष्ण की मूर्तियों को मेरी और उसका पुत्र ईसामसीह कहकर उसी पूजा को ईसाई मोड़ देने की हेराफेरी ईसा-पंथियों ने कर दी.
